Rainforest conservation in Costa Rica (Completed project)

A few years ago, we met the founders of the Work with Nature Foundation. This foundation is based in the Netherlands and has a second branch in Costa Rica. Some of Work with Nature's founders now live in Costa Rica. There, they purchase rainforest to prevent it from being lost to urban development, such as plantations. They also collaborate extensively with local Costa Ricans in Costa Rica. Enough reason to collaborate with our conservation partner and highlight special rainforest animals.

Because special creatures like glass frogs deserve some extra attention. What remarkable creatures they are! You can see right through them. Glass frogs are clever creatures; they lay their eggs on leaves suspended over streams. This prevents the eggs from floating away and reduces their risk of being eaten. And once the eggs hatch, the tadpoles slide right off the leaf into the water. How remarkable!

The Work with Nature Foundation had a strong desire to establish a research center at its rainforest location. The building was already in place, but there was no budget for purchasing research materials. Cross Nature had good contacts at the WWF. By connecting the Work with Nature Foundation with the INNO Fund (part of the WWF), the Foundation received financial support to establish the research center. Students from around the world can now conduct research in the heart of the Costa Rican rainforest to protect the rainforest and its species.

That's also what Cross Nature stands for: connecting fellow organizations to make valuable conservation projects possible!
